Salatial Marten Callihan

1841–1884

Salatial Marten Callihan (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, John Chrislip3, Malinda Chrislip4) [429], born 25 June 1841; died 7 May 1884; married, 12 May 1870, Virginia Long, born 14 March 1854. At the time of the Civil War, like his brother, Charles, Salatial was a member of the Barbour Light Horse Cavalry and was involved in the First Land Battle of the Civil War at Philippi. Along with Charles, he remained loyal to the Confederacy. He transferred to Company H, 14th Virginia Cavalry. Eventually captured, he was taken and sent to Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio. In February 1865, he was exchanged.
