Sarah Melissa Chrislip

1840–1929

Sarah Melissa Chrislip (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, Samuel Chrislip3) [790], born 14 June 1840; died 7 February 1929; married 1st, 17 October 1857, Lamar M. Hoff, born 1825 in Harrison County, Virginia; son of Henson Lewis and Ann (Rightmire) Hoff. Lamar Hoff died 18 October 1865 at age 32. Sarah Melissa Hoff married 2nd, Theodore Nutter.

  • Clifton M. Hoff (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, Samuel Chrislip3, Sarah Melissa Chrislip4) [791], born 1858; married 1st, 1 May 1879, Medora J. Hicks, daughter of James and Lucretia (Wilmoth) Hicks; married 2nd, 24 October 1886, Hannah Lora Isner, daughter of Hamilton J. and Rebecca (Moats) Isner. “Melissa’s first born was illegitimate. The father of the child was a Board.” Ada Lea Fitz, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

  • Monzel M. Hoff, M.D. (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, Samuel Chrislip3, Sarah Melissa Chrislip4) [791], born 20 August 1859; married Ida M. Teter, daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth Teter. Monzel M. Hoff, who attended the University of Baltimore, was mentioned in Samuel’s eulogy.

  • Louisa B. Hoff (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, Samuel Chrislip3, Sarah Melissa Chrislip4) [791], born 1862. Known as Aunt Lou, she was “everybody’s favorite cousin.” Ibid.
