Benjamin Henry Christlieb
1885–1967
Benjamin Henry Christlieb (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Carl Christlieb2, Isaac Christlieb3, Isaac A. Christlieb4) [974], born 8 July 1885, Long Lake, Minnesota; died 16 April 1967 in Ashland, Oregon; married 1st, 9 March 1912, Hazel Tingley; married 2nd, 17 June 1917 or 1918, Hazelle Fern Waidler.
“Benjamin H. Christlieb was an orange grower in Fullerton, California. He trained riding horses (some were polo horses for prominent people in Beverly Hills. He was also a dog trainer.” Yvonne Christlieb McAdoo, Bethesda, Maryland. “Benjamin Henry Christlieb reportedly brought a team and wagon from Long Lake, Minnesota to Southern California in the early 1900s. He, with his father, Isaac A., and brother, Alexander J. Christlieb, homesteaded land in Imperial Valley, which remains in the family. Benjamin Henry Christlieb grew oranges on 25 acres of land on Orange Thorpe Avenue, Fullerton, California. He was a dapper person and a good conversationalist and longtime member of the Elks.” Marilyn Christlieb Wade, June 1994.
In response to a letter of inquiry received from R.A. Stubbs, Long Lake, Minnesota, Benjamin H. Christlieb wrote:
“In reply to your recent inquiry about Minnesota history, I am sorry that I cannot give you the information you desire. I am not the Christlieb who wrote for a Wright County paper. B.F. Christlieb was my uncle, and he wrote lots of history, and you may rely on whatever he wrote, as he would not have written anything without having proof of its authenticity.” Below is a copy of the typewritten letter:

Benjamin H. Christlieb was twice married. He married 1st, Hazel Tingley. Divorced. Benjamin married 2nd, Hazelle Fern Waidler, born 17 February 1899; died 24 January 1987.
